Parenting the 21st Century Child
Parenting has never been easy. This is more true today than for centuries past. Children of today are different than past generations in many ways. Foremost of these differences is that they seem to carry a different consciousness, a different life purpose and a heightened sensitivity to emotional needs.
Now, couple that difference with growing up in a world that is vastly different from the world of even 10 or 20 years ago. Today’s generation of children are faced with challenges unimagined by your parents and their parents before them. Technology enticements alone are giving our children access to negative influences and exposing them to greedy manipulators.
If you are a parent of a pre-teen, a teenager or a young adult you already are experiencing these new challenges first-hand. If you have young children or are planning to have children then certainly those concerns will have arisen within you.
Parenting the 21st Century Child is about learning new ideas, strategies, techniques and beliefs that will, when practiced and embraced, move the family to a positive, purpose-filled dynamic and away from old, non-working and pain-filled traps.
This will not be a workshop where parents are criticized for mistakes for there has never been a parent who has not made mistakes. This is a workshop that will present new possibilities and new choices.
This is ultimately a workshop to enhance and strengthen the love that all parents have for their children but which sometimes gets lost in the struggle to do our best for them.
Over the years, parents are getting more and more concerned over their children’s behaviour and education. Many questions were raised and pressure were put on the school’s shoulders.
Parents and Teachers Associations or clubs were set up in various schools; believing with the supports and input of parents, various concerned issues concerning our children can be resolved. Yet as of to date, child crime, bullies, truancy and so forth are increasing and have caused a major global social concern.
As part of our responsibilities as Educators, we would like to invite you to participate in our up and coming Parenting Workshop "PARENTING THE 21ST CENTURY CHILD"
We will be discussing the various topics:
- The Right Way
One example of the way we unconsciously judge ourselves and others that can be hurting with our words or actions.
- Attitudes and Behaviours
Come and learn the dynamics—attitudes and behaviours—that support Harmony and those that create Disharmony. Come and examine what it is that governs our judgments and responses so that we can begin to learn to respond in a way that we can see will support the growth and learning of our children.
Our many beliefs about parenting that are similar or different with the parents, and some beliefs we can’t imagine could be Right!
Our environment and culture tend to conform our beliefs about the role of each parent and educator. These create expectations that comes with disappointment and the emotional reaction to that which soon so colours our thinking and speech that, before we can stop it, we became judgemental and anger took control.
The key to moving from what should work but doesn’t to what actually works is Distinction. It is an enlightening experience to have a distinction show us the difference between what we do and how we think which does not work and a new way of seeing that gets everything working. Working with other parents and educators on identifying and developing the beliefs and parenting behaviours that will help us to create harmonious and joyful children.
An often heard statement attributed to various people (including Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Gautama Buddha) is: Be the change that you want to see. Come and see what must change within ourselves in order to create the change we want in our society that begins with a child’s family and his education.

This passion was reignited in 1995 when he was invited to work with an organisation which brought behavioural modification seminars to children placed in residential treatment centres and specialty schools. In 2004,Bill started eagle's Nest School for Boys in Colorado, an all make residential child care facility to assist boys and their families to find and heal the core issues which had interrupted their ability to be whole and healthy.
He now brings his expertise to Asia and is delighted to be able to share his passion with a new group of wonderful people.
